How to Tame a Monster

Summary

The story revolves around a boy named Lwando and his experiences with his little sister, Oyiso, who sometimes behaves like a cute sibling but can also turn into a monster when influenced by emotions like hunger, tiredness, or sadness. Throughout the week, Lwando encounters these monster moments and learns to identify the underlying causes of Oyiso's behavior, attempting to tame them with understanding. On Friday, both Lwando and Oyiso end up being overwhelmed, turning into exaggerated monsters themselves. Ultimately, their father shows that the best way to manage these situations is not through outbursts but by nurturing a sense of safety, highlighting that empathy and reassurance are key to calming emotional storms in children. This story skillfully uses imaginative play to address themes of emotional awareness and the importance of support and patience in sibling relationships.
